It's Great To Be Eight!

Dillon turned 8 this year! We think he is such a handsome little boy, and have loved every minute being his parents.  He was baptized on November 1, 2014 at the Heber East Stake Center.
I made little handouts for the family after the baptism.
All of my favorite people came! Including Auntie Sally and Family, all the way from Texas.

Getting ready to eat and party after Dillon's baptism.

While Gager was in town, we got to go and play at McDonald's together.
Dillon and Deakin playing in the toy room together.
Deakin and his preschool group went to the Dairy Keen and got a tour, with a little lunch after! We live in such a fun town.

They gave him a free ice cream cone! He was in little boy heaven.

Our family spending time up at Whiskey Springs before the snow flies.  We had a little weenie roast with s'mores.

 Mommy and Baby
This was Dillon's Baptism announcement.
Jonny dressed up like Sarah from Jimmy Fallon's "Ew" for Halloween.  I went as Sarah's Dad, Gary.  We think we are so funny.

In October we took a trip with the Case's to see where Pat grew up, in Mt. Emmons, Utah. It is a very small town about 30 minutes from Vernal.  The boys playing on the playground, on our way.

Grandma Case helping Deakin to slide across!

There was a crazy amount of wasps at this park.  We were not able to stay long, for fear of being stung!
This is a picture of the boys outside of the dinosaur museum in Vernal.  They were very excited to see all of the exhibits and look around.
 Handsome crew
 Sometimes it stinks being little.

Deakin and Dillon's imaginations ran wild as they were imagining what it would be like to live when the dinosaurs, particularly the mammoth's were around!
Deakin, is such a tender hearted little sweetheart.  On a daily, sometimes weekly occasion he finds flowers, or leaves in this case, and gives them to his mama. Love him.

The boys teased about how much fun it would be to steal this bone and bring it home for Mila!

Eating breakfast together in the hotel.
The best part of the trip for the boys was definitely going swimming!

Mom and Dad's favorite part of the trip: bedtime. *sigh* These two are very busy.
Breakfast again with Grandma and Grandpa Case.
Some highlights of the trip were getting to see where Pat grew up.  This church was where Pat's father passed away when Pat was 6 years old. His mother was at home tending to the yard and garden, while Pat's father stood up and bore his testimony in church and had a heart attack directly after his testimony and died in the church.  Here is a picture of Jonny, Pat, and Dillon and Deakin standing outside of the church.  This church was also where Pat received the Priesthood, and went to many youth dances (which he stated he never asked any girls to dance...he was very shy).

While we were standing outside of the building taking pictures, a grounds crew man came by and talked to us, finding out why we were there.  He told us he had keys, and would we like to go inside?  It was a really neat opportunity to learn more about Pat, and his heritage.

Pat doesn't cry often, but he did today.
The church has been turned into a place where the town's people buy and sell used items now.  It was very dirty and cluttered, to say the least.  But, it was still really great to hear about Pat's life and see where he grew up.
Deakin begging to purchase every piece of junk there...sheez.

 Our beautiful, beautiful boys.
This is a picture of the property that Pat, his brother Mike, and their mother used harvest.  It was over 2 acres at the time, and Pat recalls planting and harvesting everything, mostly potatoes.  Pat told a story about a weird plant that "ended up growing along the river bank" that ended up being cannabis.  Ya, I'm sure it was an accident Pat!  He told stories about his mother having the greenest thumb of anyone he knew, and every year she would try different things in their garden.
They were experts at canning.  Pat talked about his duties as a kid were to make bread and chocolate sour cream cake on Sunday for his mother.  He made the bread from scratch, that they would eat for the rest of the week in addition to what ever they put up in the fall.
This is the house that Pat grew up in.  He talked about the breezeway by the side of the house, and how his mother and brothers would move their beds out there as soon as it wasn't freezing at night, and they would sleep outside every night, all summer long, and loving those memories.
Pat told us stories about how they would go to town once a month to stock up on supplies that they could not grow. On these trips his mother would purchase wonder bread and put this sandwich mate spread on the bread. He recounted how he and his brother would eat an entire loaf by the time they drove the 30 minutes home.
This is an image of Pat's grandparents house. When his father passed away, he talked about how his grandparents were always near. His mother was very independent and wanted to raise her boys on her own, but his grandparents were a great emotional support.
One of the barns that Pat used to work in as a boy.
This was another barn that Pat worked in helping with milking as a kid.

This is the old seminary building that Pat attended as a youth.
This is where Pat went to school.
Pat's first time going to the movies, at the local movie theater.  With only one parent, they were quite poor, and not able to go very often.

Swasey's Grocery store...where Pat drove with his mom and brother as a kid, still around.  Shockingly the spread that they put on their wonder bread was still around (looked a little sketchy, like it had been around since his childhood) haha.  We purchased some, as well as some wonder bread and took it to his old school and ate sandwiches and heard stories about his childhood.  It was a great time.
Inside Swasey's store, the boys rode on the motorized pony, thanks to Grandma!
After lunch we went and visited Pat's parents grave stones, as well as other family members.
I am so blessed to have such wonderful in-laws.  They are truly good people, and are amazing parents and grandparents. We are blessed to live close to them.

These little rascals played hide and seek in the graveyard.  Funny little dudes.

For Halloween preschool at our house, we made little spiders out of egg cartons and pipe cleaners.  Deakin thought it was fabulous!
Deakin at the specialists office. He kept having recurring ear drum ruptures. His doctor couldn't figure out why, so we saw a specialist who determined that his tube had been lodged in his ear canal and needed to be removed with surgery.  I hate when my kids go under anesthesia, makes me very nervous, but it solved the problem!

For a preschool field trip we went to the local recycling center.  They got some information on how important recycling is, and then got a tour.
The kids patiently waiting for the tour, getting some education.
They learned all about sorting and had fun climbing on the cardboard boxes.
Deakin and friends, Evee Bennett, and Ryker Anderson with little brother Maddix.

Jonny was asked by his Principal to be a part of the Ambassador's club to help kids gain leadership qualities. For one of their activities they got to go to a Jazz game, and he was able to take Dillon.

Before the game Dillon got to meet a silver metalist in the Beijing Olympics, she was the US snow boarder.

Halloween 2015, Sarah and Sarah's Dad Gary from Jimmy Fallon.
The boys were Spiderman and Transformers for Halloween 2015.

Someone in our neighborhood used bails of straw to create minions...the boys thought that was hilarious, and would ask to drive by several times.

Deakin and his buddies at Preschool making spiders for Halloween.  Friends: Kaden Kohler, and Ryker Anderson.
Deakin stole my phone and took pictures...but I like this one of our pooch, Mila.
Deakin, same phone lift, taking a selfie!
This is a picture of Deakin before getting in trouble for destroying all of the apples, not able to wait for help pealing them.  Yikes. This independent kid will kill me!
Deakin and I making cookies for Halloween at friend, Leslie Anderson's house.  Notice the empty bottle of sprinkles, all over the floor and plate.
For another preschool adventure we drove down to Kaysville and learned about horses, their care, and got to ride Grandma and Grandpa West's horses.  Deakin was in heaven!
Grandma West teaching all of the kids about horse care, grooming, and safety.  She is the coolest Grandma ever!

After grooming and riding, Grandma West even made us cookies that we enjoyed on their beautiful patio!
We painted pumpkins this year.  My handsome Dillon painting his pumpkin.
Cass and her Crew came up from Texas for Dillon's baptism, and Halloween.  It was wonderful having them here.  Here are the kids and Ty lounging after going trick or treating!  Everyone was very tired out!
Then, Grandma and Grandpa West arrived for the party, in style of course!  They looked so awesome dressed up as Carl and Ellie from Up.  My mom is so fabulous, and creative! She did such a good job on their costumes!
Everyone getting ready to party on Halloween!
We took Dillon, Deakin, Gage, and Blake around trick or treating.  Ty stayed back with Bridger, who was sick.  Jonny pulled them in the wagon.  Love that wagon!
 Cute little monsters!
Dillon Marriner Case became a member of the LDS church on November 1, 2014.  It was a wonderful day, filled with the Spirit, and wonderful to have family close.
